Scotty Britton Obituary

Scotty Lin Britton, 72, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday September 23, 2021 in her home of 28 years on Murfield Dr, in Lansing, NY. She was surrounded by her loving family and friends in her final days after losing her life to cancer.

Born to the late Jung Ching and Chang Bing Lin, Scotty was one of seven sisters and two brothers in their home of Taichung, Taiwan. In 1980, Scotty immigrated to the US with several members of her family and continued her education in Business Administration and Christian studies at Houghton College. After a year living in New York City working at a bank, she returned to Ithaca, NY in 1984 to be with her parents, siblings, and Taiwanese faith community. In Ithaca, Scotty was a retired real estate agent, property manager, and a long-time community faith leader for a women’s bible study group in Ithaca, NY. In 1990, she became the loving wife of Wayne H. Britton, and two years later, had a son Dennis W. Britton. As a devoted wife and loving mother, Scotty led a life sharing her faith and love of God with anyone who came to her. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, having brought many of her friends and relatives in Taiwan to Christ, establishing a family Bible study group in 1985, a Ithaca Taiwanese Christian community in 1991, and a women’s Bible study group in 1995 that still meets today.

Scotty is predeceased by her parents, Jung Ching and Chang Ping Lin, and her sister, Li-May Chiu; survived by her devoted husband, Wayne H. Britton; son, Dennis W. Britton; daughter-in-law, Chyna Britton; grandson, Dennis W. Britton Jr.; in the US, she is survived by her brother Kenneth C. Lin of Ithaca, NY, her sisters Victoria Chen of Carrollton, TX, Li-Feng Lin of North Wales, PA, and Esther Lin of Ithaca, NY; her nieces, Annie and Susan Lin; in Taiwan, she is survived by her brother Cheng Nan; sisters Li Ming Chang and Li Deng Chen, and several nieces, and nephews.
