Sandra Hammond Obituary

Sandra (Sandy) Hammond, age 64, went to be with her lord and savior on October 3, 2021.  She was a devout Christian and faithful member of the Dryden United Methodist Church.  Her faith was unwavering, and we all rest assured knowing that her journey isn’t ending, rather just beginning.

She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Steve Hammond, her 2 children, Rachel Green (Ryan) & Aaron Hammond (Tiffany).  She found some of her greatest joy later in her life by celebrating her grandson, Rowan Green.  They spent time laughing, living and loving life together.  She had a special way with all of God’s children. She was able to comfort and soothe most of the young people in the world.  She is also survived by her sister, and 3 brothers.  Sandy’s countless nieces and nephews brought her an abundance of joy.  She also considered all of the members of her congregation as Family.

Sandy loved surrounding herself with family and friends.  She was an avid fan of lighthouses, traveling, camping, baking, swimming and helping others.  She had a witty sense of humor and was quick with a joke.  Singing in church brought her and others so much comfort.  She always sang in the Christmas cantata, and recently was part of the chime choir.  She spent her years working in different childcare centers, where she imparted her calm demeanor, wisdom and nurturing ways to all.

Mom was a wonderful listener and always had a story to tell.  She was the perfect person to talk to when you simply needed to call someone because you were having a bad day.  She will be missed as a Wife, Mom, Granny, and sister and friend.

The friends and family she made along the way are reminded to Celebrate her Life.  Do not cry for her at this time, do not weep on her grave, for she is not there!  She is in a much better place and would want all of you to remember her and know her spirit lives on.

A Celebration of her life will be held at 2 pm on Friday, October 8, 2021 in the Dryden United Methodist Church, Rev. Robyn Hays as celebrant. Family and friends are invited to call from 4-7 pm on Thursday, October 7, 2021 at Perkins Funeral Home, 55 W. Main St., Dryden, NY In lieu of flowers, please feel free to donate to the Dryden United Methodist Church in her memory.  Online condolences at www.perkinsfuneralhome.com
