Jeremy Daniel Wood

Jeremy Daniel “Woody” Wood, 45 of Columbus, Ga passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on July 14, 2022 at his mother’s house in Etna, NY. He was born on March 5, 1977 in Ithaca, NY, the son of Connie Savon and the late Lanny K. Wood. Jeremy graduated from Dryden High School in 1996. He had many fond memories of his time spent on the football field with his twin brother Jason and often spoke about how football saved his life. In 1996, he joined the Infantry in the U.S. Army. During his 20 years in the military, he served all over the world, including Kosovo, Korea, Iraq and Saudi Arabia. He earned many awards to include a Bronze Star, NATO Medal for service in Kosovo, Meritorious Service Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, Order of St. Maurice and several Army Commendation and Achievement awards.

He retired from the Army in 2016 as an E7.

After retirement, he spent his time doing the things he loved the most, cooking, fishing and spending time with his friends and family.

Jeremy has three amazingly, smart and beautiful daughters Kylah, Morgan and Ava and he loved them all so deeply. He enjoyed teaching them how to fish and coach them in softball. He was extremely proud of all of their accomplishments and was a funny, playful and loving father that would do anything for them.

Jeremy made close friends every where he went, never met a stranger and considered his military friends his family. Many people would think he was running for Mayor of Dryden. He was always ready and willing to offer help to anyone in need and was a fierce protector of those he loved. He greatly enjoyed having barbecues and cooking for his friends and truly was his happiest when gathering together. 

Jeremy is survived by his Mother Connie Savon, twin brother Jason (Valerie) Wood, sister Jeanie (Karla) Savon, brother Delian Wood, sister Ashley (Jesse) Allington. Surrogate Father Danny Baker. And the third twin Jacob Kelly.

His daughters Kylah Reed, Morgan Wood and Ava Wood, his former wife Jennifer Wood, Aunt Patti(Timmy) Anderson, Nieces Lisa (Ryan) Zanni, Alana Toomey and Maddie and Gracie Wood. Uncle Keith Wood and Aunt Sherrie (Dirk) Saltzgaber, Uncle Sam Savon, Uncle Mike Savon, Aunt Kathy Savon (Dave) Crooks, Former brother-in-law Patrick Toomey and several cousins. And many, many friends.

Predeceased by Father Lanny K. Wood, Step-Father Gene Savon, Uncles Steve, Mike and Chris Wood. Aunt Carol Patterson and Uncle Howard “Huey”Patterson, Grandma and Grandpa Gee, Grandma and Grandpa Shaw, cousins Josh Wood, Cody Wood and many military brothers. 

Calling hours from 3-5 pm with service immediately following with military honors on Thursday 7/21/2002 at Perkins Funeral Home in Dryden, NY.
