James L. Case, Jr. age 74, of Locke, NY passed away unexpectedly on June 7, 2022 as the result of a tree cutting accident.
Born March 14, 1948 in Cortland, NY he was the son of the late James L. Sr. and Alice Scutt Case.
In Jim’s early years he worked for Smith Corona, Cayuga Rock Salt and Gutchess Lumber Co., before owning and operating his own businesses; Cases Tractor Service, where farmers trusted his expertise and knew they could count on him to get them back into their fields as quickly as possible; and for many years, Cases Tree Service. He loved riding his Harley, snowmobiling, fishing and hunting. Most importantly Jim loved spending time with his family.
Jim was an avid NASCAR fan and once raced his own late model dirt car, 80ss, at local race tracks. Jim was always there to lend a hand and assisted anyone, especially those in need.
Surviving him is his wife of 40 years, Patricia Case; his children, Kimberly (Craig) Todd, Brian Kastenhuber, James R. Case and Wendy Sicina; grandchildren, Kayla (Chad), Chris (Danielle), Seth (Tiffany), Tyler, Alexa, and Kolton as well as 4 great grandchildren; his siblings, Winnie Campolito, Samuel (Rebecca) Phillips, William (Kim) Case, Pamela Dollaway (Tino) and Otis Phillips, Jr. (Cindy); uncle, John (Sheila) Scutt and aunt, Joyce (Don) Evans and many cousins, and friends.
He is predeceased by his parents, James L. Case, Sr. and Alice Scutt Case Phillips; step-father, Otis Phillips, Sr.; siblings, Dick Case and Lynda (Case) Martin.
At Jim’s request there are no formal services planned. A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, June 26, 2022 at the Dryden Veteran’s Memorial Home, 2272 Dryden Rd. (Route 13) starting at 2pm.
