Eugene (Geno) R. Bonner passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 3, 2021 at the New York State Veterans Home in Oxford, New York at the age of 89. Geno served in the US Army and fought in the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in June, 1955. Geno was a long-time resident of Marathon, New York and a steadfast volunteer for the Marathon Volunteer Fire Department. Geno was an avid hunter and loved the outdoors. He was the life of any party and he attended many. He is pre-deceased by his parents, Dewey and Mary (McAvoy) Bonner and brothers Richard, James, and Dewey Bonner. He is survived by his sister-in-law Margo Bonner, nephew Christopher (Laurie) Bonner, and niece Jennie (Gene) Walts. He is also survived by several other nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be scheduled in summer 2021 in Marathon, New York. Memorial donations can be made to the New York State Veterans Home in Oxford, NY or the Marathon Volunteer Fire Department in Marathon, NY.
