Carlene Joyce Muncey

Carlene Lang Muncey, 88, passed away March 7, 2023, at home after a courageous battle with dementia. She was born January 15, 1935 to Merwin and Esther Lang. on November 5,  1953 she married her high school sweetheart, Robert “Bob” Muncey and lived in Virgil where they raised their family.

She enjoyed camping, bowling, golfing, snowmobiling, traveling, and spending time with family and many friends.

Carlene was the Virgil Town Clerk and was the secretary for the Virgil Fire Commissioners for many years. After her children reached school age, Carlene worked at SUNY Cortland for more than 20 years.

After Carlene and Bob retired, they enjoyed traveling and spending winters in Florida for many years. As time passed and they no longer spent time in Florida, they always enjoyed taking daily rides most every day.

Carlene is survived by her loving husband for nearly 70 years, Robert, son, Dale (Debi) Muncey, daughter, Joanne (Gregory) Darling. Her grandchildren, Amy Darling, Maria Darling (Cliff Talbot), Joseph (Becky) Paino, Jeffrey Paino, Jonathon Paino, Jessica (Uriah)Dean and Ryan Muncey. Her great grandchildren, Ashley Toolan, Philip Paino and Alexandra Dean. Sisters, Anita (late Phillip) VanGorder, Linda (Thomas) Saltsman and many nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her parents, daughter, Debra Muncey Paino Smith, sister and brother in-laws, Stan and Charlotte (Muncey) Connelly and Robert and Elizabeth (Muncey) Dalley

Services will be held at Perkins Funeral Home in Dryden, NY on Monday, March 13, 2023, calling hours will be 1-3pm and the funeral service will be 3pm. Interment will be at the Virgil Rural Cemetery in the spring.  In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Virgil United Methodist Church.  Online condolences can be left at. www.perkinsfh.com
