RICHFORD – Barbara A. Gleason, age 81, of Richford, NY passed away to be with her Lord and her husband, James L. Gleason on Wednesday, March 31, 2021following a lengthy illness, while at home with her family and friends.

Barb was born March 21, 1940 in Detroit, Michigan. She was the only child of Glen L. Campbell and Mattie Lou Willis. Barbara loved working alongside her husband driving Dump Truck. She devoted her life to raising her 6 children, 1 adopted child and several adopted grandchildren. She always took in stray souls who needed help, people and animals alike.

Barb is survived by 7 children, Deborah (John) McNeely of Pennsylvania, Patricia (Paul) Spoonhower of Berkshire, James (Donna Ingalls) Gleason of Dryden, Dorothy (Ronald) Hall of Richford, Kenneth Gleason of Richford, Jane (Lawrence) Canfield of Brooktondale and Howard (Lisa) Holcomb of Johnson City; 16 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, 10 great great grandchildren; and her “adopted” grandchild and caregiver, Taylor Tuggle. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Lawrence Gleason; grandson, David McNeely; sons in law, John McNeely, Paul Spoonhower and Ronald Hall, half sister, Mildred Mable Nunn-Race and her half brother, Glen Campbell.

There will be no calling hours or funeral. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Tompkins County SPCA, 1640 Hanshaw Rd., Ithaca, NY 14850 and/or Lourdes Hospice, 4102 Vestal Rd., Vestal, NY 13850.
