Alan Dean Rainbow

Alan Dean Rainbow, age 74 of Cortland, NY passed away Sunday, June 27, 2021 at home with his loving wife beside him.

Born January 12, 1947 in Cortland, NY he was the son of the late Robert and June Rice Rainbow.  Alan served with the US Marine Corp in Vietnam from 1964-1968. He was employed with Northern Telecom prior to retirement and was a member of American Legion Post 465 of Homer; VFW Ithaca Post 961, Cortland FOE Aerie 155 and Cortland Disabled American Veterans Chapter 153.

Alan had a zest for life and loved spending time riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and driving his little red convertible sports car. Near and dear to him were all his fur babies (which he had many), none more loyal than his Red Heeler, Maggie Mae who was there to greet him on the next leg of his journey.

Alan is survived by his loving wife, Kristie Rainbow at home; sons, Don (Kim) McMasters, Dave (Jen) McMasters, Kipp (Katherine) Rainbow, Dean Robert Rainbow and Randy Rainbow; daughter, Heather (Jeremy) Schaap; grandchildren, Karlee McMasters, Andrew McMasters, Hannah McMasters, Molly McMasters and Ben McMasters, Sebastian Rainbow, Brookes Rainbow, Cameron Rainbow, Kevin Rainbow, Aaron Van deBogart; Kristie’s son, Stuart Lovley and his daughter, Allyson Lovley: Also surviving are his sisters, Marlene Loomis, Loraine Putman, and Sharon Marshall, and a large extend family. He was predeceased by his wife, Delores “Teeda” Rainbow in 2010, his brothers Dana Rainbow and Kenneth Rainbow.

At Alan’s request there will be no calling hours or funeral services. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Homer American Legion from 3-7 on Tuesday, July 6, 2021.
