Wayne Chandler

Wayne A. Chandler, also affectionately known as "Jeano", was born on October 15, 1984, in Cortland, New York, to Patricia Chandler and Elwin O’Dell.

Wayne was an extremely hard worker from the time he was old enough to get a job. He had a very blunt and stubborn personality, but it was that same stubbornness and determination to never give up that kept him going as far as he was able to make it. Even through his many health battles, Wayne had a deep desire to get back to work and doing what he loved as soon as possible.

For the very few people he truly opened up to, Wayne showed that he had a huge and caring heart in his own way.

Wayne loved his family, motorcycles, his trucks and Tahoe, working on vehicles, and seeing what licenses and endorsements he could acquire. He loved being on the go, target shooting, and traveling with family. Being a part of the McLean Fire Department was important to him. Wayne adored his friends and animals.

In recent years, Wayne worked as a mechanic at O’Shea Tire, a school bus driver for Dryden Central School District, and a fuel delivery driver for E&V Energy.

Wayne is survived by his wife, Chelsea Chandler; his children, Noah “Frank” Slayton and Bryan Chandler; his mother, Trish Chandler; his sister, Kelly Jean (fiancé Jeff Utter); niece, Kali Craig (Austin Harvey); nephew, Devon Ackley; great-nephew, Oakley; and niece, Khloe Harvey.

It goes without saying that Wayne will be deeply missed by all those whose lives were touched by him. He would want everyone to remember: “Ngu" - Never give up on your hopes and dreams.

A Celebration of Life will be held on September 27, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the McLean Fire Department. Family, friends, and all those wishing to pay their respects are welcome to join us in celebrating Wayne’s life and remembering the person he was.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to McLean Fire Department or Little Tags Foundation.
