Susan J. Knight

August 11, 1941 – May 15, 2026

Susan J. Knight, born Susan J. Shepard to Oscar and Florence (Tucker) Shepard, passed away peacefully at home, her final wish. She now walks in the presence of her Lord and Savior.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fredrick Knight, and her son, James R. Brotherton.

She is survived by her children, Michael (Cheryl) Brotherton, Lynne (Tim) Sears, and Robert (Zela) Brotherton.

She also leaves behind many beloved family members, including Ashleigh (Chad) Dildine, Thomas Knight, Joseph (Alexis) Knight, Ryeder Knight, Karen (Byron) Emerson, Joseph Knight, Sandy (Scott) Rouleau, and Edward (Jasmine) Knight.

Susan was a cherished grandmother to Jennifer (John) Mann, Timothy Sears Jr., Samuel (Samantha) Sears, Nichole Brotherton, Brian Brotherton, Robert (Alexis) Brotherton, Alejandra Brotherton, Oscar Brotherton, Elizabeth Brotherton, Jordan Knight, Kierston (Chris) Williams, Kyle Knight, and Mara (CJ) Matheson, along with many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Susan was known for her love of crocheting, painting, playing cards, and large family gatherings. She loved tending to her flowers, and the smell of freshly mowed grass always brought a smile to her face. She was a woman ahead of her time. She coached baseball in the late 60’s and late 70’s and owned a ceramic and painting studio in the mid 80’s.

Her legacy will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who were blessed by her enormous and loving heart.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2026, from noon till 8 pm at Myers Park Pavilion C in Lansing.
