Sue Elizabeth O'Connor was born on January 27, 1937, the daughter of the late Herrick and Dorothy Crumm Diamond. Sue passed away peacefully on April 14, 2026. She was a cherished mother, grandmother, and friend whose life was marked by love, resilience, and a deep commitment to her family and to God.
Sue's journey was one of strength and grace. Throughout her life, she nurtured meaningful relationships and created a legacy that will forever be remembered by those who had the privilege to know her. She retired from Dryden Central School where she worked for many years. Her compassionate spirit and unwavering dedication to her loved ones left an enduring impression on all who crossed her path.
She is survived by her son, Brian Stout, and his wife, Susan, of Locke, NY; her daughter, Nancy Bowker, and her husband, Robert, of Cortland, NY; and her step-son, Robert O'Connor, and his partner, Beth Gray, of Dryden, NY. Sue found immense joy in her role as grandmother to Stephen Stout and his wife Alison of South Hampton, NJ; Matthew Bowker and his wife, Ashley, of Calera, AL; Sarah Walker and her husband, Damian, of McGraw, NY; and Abigail Bowker and her fiancé, Salvatore Pantano of Cortland. Her family also includes her step-grandchildren, Tyler O'Connor and his wife, Amanda of Athens, GA, and Alexis O'Connor. Additionally, she took great delight in her great-grandchildren, Reese and Aria Bowker. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Sue’s life was also marked by her marriage to her late husbands, Ronald Stout and George O'Connor; She is also predeceased by her brother, H. Roger Diamond and her sisters; Jeanne Harris, Dorothy Reba Sager and Kathleen Fabish, and their spouses, whose memories she held close to her heart.
The warmth and kindness Sue shared with her family and friends will remain a source of comfort and inspiration. Her presence enriched the lives of many, and her memory will continue to live on through the generations she so lovingly nurtured. She will be remembered for her deep love of the Lord, her devotion to family and her kind, caring, generous spirit. Sue will be deeply missed, honored, and remembered with sincere respect and affection by all whose lives she touched.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff at Cortland Park Whispering Pines for their wonderful care and compassion, especially to Sabrina Hogan and Amanda Buchler.
Calling hours will be held April 25th, 2026 from 11-1PM with a service to follow after at Perkins Funeral Home. Burial will follow the services at the Parker Street Cemetery in Lapeer, NY with Pastor Steve Thompson officiating.
Memorial donations may be made to Grace Christian Fellowship of Homer, NY or Harmony United Methodist Church of Harford, NY.
