Sarah Inez Edgecomb, 47, passed away on February 15, 2026, in Brooksville, Florida.

She was born on August 16, 1978, in Cortland, NY, to Allen and Linda Edgecomb.

She is survived by her loving parents, Allen Edgecomb and Linda Edgecomb of Cortland, NY; her beautiful daughter, Andrea Edgecomb of Spring Hill, FL; her brother James (Keri) Edgecomb of Huntsville, AL; nieces, Susanna Edgecomb Hernandez (Grant), Karissa Edgecomb, and Emmersyn Moore; and nephews, Jason Edgecomb and Cameron Moore, who will all cherish her memory for the rest of their lives; many aunts; uncles, and cousins; longtime family friends, Allison Edgecomb and Jessica Buse; and many dear friends and colleagues.

Sarah graduated from Cortland Jr.- Sr. High School in 1996 and earned both her bachelor’s degree and a Master of Education in School and Professional Counseling from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh. While she spent most of her adult life in Florida, Sarah always returned home to Cortland for extended visits each summer and winter. She loved Central New York and was so proud to call Cortland home. Sarah's deep love for family, enduring smile, laughter, and the joy she brought to others will be deeply missed.

As a middle school counselor at Powell Middle School in Spring Hill, Florida, Sarah was described by her colleagues and students as someone who truly cared-someone who always took the time to listen and helped guide students and families in making the best decisions for their futures. Her devotion to the students of the Hernando School District and the broader community will be greatly missed.

In 2022, Sarah became a foster parent to Andrea, a student in need of a loving home. Their bond grew quickly, and in October of 2025, Sarah adopted Andrea, making their family official in a moment filled with joy and tears of happiness. Andrea will continue to be surrounded by love and support from family and friends.

A memorial service for family and friends will be held on June 13, 2026, at 1:00PM at Perkins Funeral Home in Dryden, New York, followed by a graveside service at 3:00 p.m. at Groton Rural Cemetery, where Sarah will rest alongside many beloved family members.
