RONALD L. SIMONS,
age 74, of Tacoma, WA and formerly of Ithaca and Groton died Tuesday, August 12, 2008 in Tacoma. Ron was born in Dryden, NY on July 31, 1934 a son of the late Edmond and Lettie McLean Simons. He was graduated from Ithaca High School in 1953 and served in the US Army from 1954 to 1956. Ron was an area resident until relocating to the west coast in 1976. While in Tompkins County he had been employed at National Cash Register and Therm as well as operating a hobby farm on Cobb Street where he raised horses. In Tacoma he operated Quality Yard Service.
Survivors include a sister, Viola S. Lane and a brother, Lester Simons both of Dryden; several nieces, nephews and cousins; friends Dennis S. Rice of Tacoma and Sharon Harris of Freeville. In addition to his parents, he was pre-deceased by siblings, Harold and Richard Simons, Catherine Olds and Mildred Manca.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Saturday, August 23, 2008 at the Perkins Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Rose officiating. Burial will follow in Willow Glen Cemetery, Dryden. Friends are invited to call from 1 to 2 PM Saturday at the funeral home, 55 West Main St., Dryden. Memorials are directed to a charity on one's choice.
