Robert D. Stone

Robert Douglas Stone, age 67, of Ithaca/ Harford NY, passed away on Thursday, August 13, 2026 as the result of a short but aggressive battle with cancer.

Bob was the oldest son of Douglas W. Stone Jr. and Shirley A. Genung Stone of Ithaca. Bob grew up in the Fall Creek neighborhood where he enjoyed bowling at the local alley with his neighbors and friends. An avid sportsman, Bob loved fishing in several streams and Cayuga Lake. He was also an avid hunter and made sure to take vacation time during deer season to sit in his tree stand and bring home meat for the freezer. He also loved to bet on the Trifecta horse each year.

After graduation from Ithaca Highschool in 1978, Bob took a job at Cornell University where he worked in the Building Care Department for 37 years until his retirement in 2015. He was a member of the NRA and the Varna Community Association.

Bob is survived by his lifelong love and devoted wife of 47 years, Carol Ann and his two sons Robert D. Stone Jr. of Ithaca, and Michael P. (Adrienne) Stone of Moravia, NY. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Emma, Sophie, Lila, Cassandra, Ariana, Makaela, Olivia, Jeremiah, Tyler, and Chase, along with three great granddaughters. Also, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends that loved and admired him. Bob is also survived by his mother, Shirley, two sisters, Robin Biasillo of Maine, NY, Sherry Miller (James) of Boston, MA, brother David (Sue) Stone of Newfield, NY his sister in laws Terry (Toni) Cain, Robin (Wahee) Ojedokun, and Rebecca Rice. He was predeceased by his father Douglas Jr., and brother Douglas Stone III.

Bob also was a big fan of NASCAR, football, and basketball. He was also very proud of his home and could be seen often on his lawn mower, taking meticulous care of his yard.
