Richard Scriber

Richard Arthur Scriber, 83, of Brooktondale, NY, and most recently Greenville, SC passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 12, 2025. Visitation from 9:00 am- 10:00 am, Saturday, June 21, 2025 at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Ithaca, NY. A funeral service will follow at 10:00 am. Richard will be interred at Brookton Cemetery in Brooktondale, NY.

Born in Geneva, NY, and raised in Brooktondale, Richard lived a life rooted in service, family, and innovation. He was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Ithaca, NY, and served on their board of Trustees.

After serving as a Beachmaster in the United States Navy, he worked for a local Radio Station as a Communications Surveyor. Richard retired from IBM, where he worked as an early computer repair specialist as Field Engineer at Cornell University.

Richard was a dedicated volunteer firefighter with the Brooktondale Fire Department.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Christine (Boxmeyer) Scriber of Greenville, SC; his sons, Daniel Scriber of Spotsylvania, VA and David Scriber of Marietta, GA; stepchildren, Rebecca Taylor and Steven Moore of Greenville, SC, and multiple grandchildren.

He is predeceased by his first wife, Margaret (Zimmer) Scriber, and their son Dale Scriber.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Richard’s name to Tabernacle Baptist Church or Brooktondale Fire Department.
