Raymond Oliver Hatch, 94, of McLean, NY passed away on April 9, 2026 surrounded by family. Raymond was born on October 26,1931 in Chenango, New York.
Raymond was the son of Vernon Oliver Hatch and Alice Agnes (Buckley) Hatch. During his childhood he attended Marathon Central School. Raymond left school at the age of 13 for his first job on an area farm. He worked on area farms for 15 years before transitioning to a position with the New York State Department of Transportation Highway Division. He had a long and fulfilling career with the New York State Department of Transportation while also running the Don’s Printing Print Shop with his eldest son Donald for over 25 years.
Raymond married his beloved wife Elnora “Pat” Mae (Dutcher) Hatch on January 31, 1955. They spent 69 years together before Pat passed away on August 31, 2024. Ray and Pat lived in various locations throughout Cortland County before settling into their home in Mclean, NY. Raymond was an incredible Father and Grandfather and member of the local community. In his younger years he enjoyed fishing, camping, wood working, hunting, listening to country music, riding around on his John Deere and reading.
Raymond is survived by his children Donald Hatch, John Hatch, Susan Drew, Roger Hatch (Cynthia), Daniel Hatch, Richard Hatch (Phylicia); grandchildren Kathleen Walker (Matt), Benjamin Drew, Emily Davies (Scott), Hannah Ashley Bell (Tina), Andrew Hatch and Breanna McDonald (Gavyn); Great Grand-daughters ElnoraMae “Nora” Hatch and Arabella Converse; adopted Grandson Gabe Hendershot; Son-In-Law Roy Bell; Sister-In-Law Joyce Hatch (Glenn) and brother Vincent Hatch (Helen); as well as many nieces and nephews. Raymond was predeceased by his wife of 69 years Elnora Hatch; daughter Nancy Carolyn (Hatch) Bell, Son In-Law Tim Messick; his parents Vernon Oliver Hatch and Alice Agnes (Buckley) Hatch; his siblings Richard Buckley (wife Marge), Ella (Hatch) Searles (Victor), Enos Hatch and his wife Patricia Hatch, Elmer Hatch (Johanna), Rodney Hatch, Blanche (Hatch) Fox (husband Harold), Viola (Hatch) McPherson (Edward), and Henry Hatch (wife Joyce).
The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to The Lyons Family (John, Dawn, Taron and Kiara) for being the greatest neighbors and for always helping our parents.
Perkins Funeral Home in Dryden, NY will be assisting the family during this time. There will not be any services per Raymond’s wishes. Raymond will be buried in the McLean Cemetery beside his wife Elnora at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made McLean Volunteer Fire Department Rescue Squad at P.O. Box 121, McLean, NY 13102.
