Mary E. Davis, 85, of Auburn Road, Locke, NY passed away unexpectedly Monday, October 1, 2012 at Cayuga Medical Center. Born July 24, 1927 at home in the Town of Dryden, she was the daughter of the late James and Katherine Metzger Cornelius and wife of the late Leo F. Davis who died in 1984. Mary was a nursing assistant at Lakeside Nursing Home when they first opened. She also worked for 21 years as a housekeeper for Kappa Delta Sorority at Cornell University. Mary enjoyed sewing and baking, always taking a pan of brownies wherever she would go. She is renowned for her pot holder and hand towel crafting, she also made wooden crafts that she would cut and paint herself. In her younger days she enjoyed gardening and Country and Western music. She was a 50 year member of NYS Grange.Mary is survived by her children, Richard (Karen) Wilson of Lansing, NY, Edward Wilson of Locke, NY William (Lorrie) Davis of Lansing, NY and Charlene (Marc) Stout of Locke, NY; five grandchildren, six great grandchildren; brother in law and sister in law, Ivan and Grace Davis of Milanville, PA; brother in law, Raymond Cochran of Cortland, NY; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her siblings, Mabel Sutfin, Mildred Cochran, James, Leslie and Glenn Cornelius. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Thursday, October 4, 2012 in the Faith Bible Fellowship, North Lansing with Rev. Jason Berga officiating. Friends may call from 11:00 am until the service time of 1:00 pm at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Faith Bible Fellowship, 1004 Auburn Rd., Groton, NY 13073.
