MARILYN IDA CZERENDA,
age 79, of 7 Etna Lane, Etna, NY passed away Sunday, May 4th, 2008 at the Cortland Regional Medical Center after a lengthy illness. Marilyn was born June 22, 1928 in Ludlowville, NY a daughter of the late Albertus Clarence Parker and Betsy Inman Parker. She was graduated from Ludlowville High School in 1946 and on July 1, 1951 was married to Stanley Czerenda who survives. Marilyn was employed years ago at Rothchild’s Dept. Store in Ithaca and retired from Cornell University. During retirement Marilyn babysat for youngsters in her home and also worked at Dunham’s IGA in Freeeville. She was a member of Leonard T. Spaulding Unit 1134, American Legion Auxiliary, the Etna Women’s Community Club and the Etna Fire Dept. Auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband, Stanley; her siblings, Alvin Parker of Lansing, Edward Parker of Camillus, NY and Lorraine (Ronald) Pingrin of Auburn; a nephew, James Cahalan. She was predeceased by a sister, Virginia Cahalan.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Friday, May 9, 2008 at the Perkins Funeral Home with Rev. Dale Austin officiating. Burial will follow in Willow Glen Cemetery, Dryden. Friends are invited to call from 1 to 2 PM at the funeral home, 55 West Main St., Dryden. Legion Auxiliary members will gather at 1:30 PM Friday at the funeral home.
