Loxie Priscilla (Oltz) Hill, 80 of Danby passed away on October 29 after a relentless battle with kidney disease. Born in Ithaca on July 13, 1944, Loxie was the daughter of the late Leon A. and Elosia Oltz. She was a 1962 graduate of Ithaca high school and a graduate of Ithaca school of Practical Nursing. She met her beloved husband, Clifford Hill at a church function and they were married in 1964. Together with partners they founded many local businesses, with Loxie always playing a key role as bookkeeper. Among them were Hillview Terrace Mobile Court, Power Town Garage and Genoa Off-Road Speedway, all in the Ithaca area. They were also founding and active members of the Ridge Toppers 4 x 4 Jeep club.
She is survived by her beloved children, Priscilla I Hill and Keith M Hill (Suzanne), brothers Melford Oltz (Peg) and Hollis Oltz, step-sisters Janet Miller (Howard) and Fran Enders, sister Beth Wilcox (Scott), as well as grandchildren Bradley Barnes, Amanda Barnes, and Mitchell Hill, great grandchildren Janaya, Jordan, Bria, Creed, and Brinley, as well as several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband, parents, brother Fred Oltz, stepmother Bette Oltz, and stepbrother Vernon Underwood.
During periods not working along-side Clifford, she kept herself busy helping others. She was a caregiver to many young children, and she worked several years at the Big M market in Spencer, followed by her final career at Ithaca city school district as a bus aid.
Although she did not formally practice nursing, her love of the medical field and her skills were used daily. This was evident in her care for her family and others throughout her life, as well as in her final fight with kidney disease, turning a bleak 6-month diagnosis into 4.5 fruitful years. In her retirement, she enjoyed baking cookies for her friends and family and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as multiple special pets.
Funeral will be held at the Danby Community Church on Tuesday, November 5 with Calling hours 9am- 10am, service 10am-11am, burial 11am-12pm, and reception at 12pm.
