Lora A. Galpin,
85, passed away on August 15, 2008 surrounded by family and care givers at Our Lady of Hope in Richmond, VA. She was born in Candor, NY and was a longtime employee of Cornell University. While living in Newfield, NY, she was co-owner of The Old Music Shop Museum with her late husband, Allen S. Galpin. She also resided in Freeville, NY and Bonita Springs, Fl. Lora will be missed by her daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She will be remembered for her perseverance amidst adversity, her dedication to her family, her stories, both true and fictitious, her outbursts of laughter, and her ability to love all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Lora was the daughter of the late Lora K. Beane and F. Lee Beane of Candor, NY and the wife of the late Allen S. Galpin. Lora was preceded in death by sisters Mae Beane and Dorothy Behlen of Whitney Point, NY and her brother Donald Beane of Candor, NY. Lora and Allen were the parents of three daughters: Sharon Galpin Brody and husband James Brody of Watertown, CT; Carolyn Galpin Jordan and husband Frank Jordan, both deceased, of Dryden NY; and Ruth Galpin Grable and husband Sherman Grable of Montpelier, VA. Lora leaves behind grandchildren John Allen Brody of Bethlehem, CT; Lee Walter Brody of E. Granby, CT; Cynthia Brody Kloss of Oakville, CT; Michael Scott Brody of Watertown, CT; Karen Ann Jordan of Dryden, NY; Kevin Andrew Jordan of Center Moriches, NY; Megan Elizabeth Grable of Montpelier, VA; and Scott Christopher Grable of Montpelier, VA. Lora also leaves behind great-grandchildren Ashley Kloss, Kelly Kloss, Helena Brody, Olivia Brody, Maya Brody, Noelle Rose Jordan, and William Allen Jordan.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, August 20, 2008 at the Perkins Funeral Home, 55 West Main St., Dryden with Rev. Eunice Tabor officiating. Interment will follow in Willow Glen Cemetery, Dryden. The family asks those who wish to remember Lora to kindly consider a donation to Hospicare, 172 E.
