Leila E. Shaw

LEILA E. SHAW, age 89, of 110 Stevens Road, McLean, NY passed away peacefully at home in the presence of her family on Monday, March 8, 2010. Mrs. Shaw was born January 10, 1921 at Norwich, a daughter of the late Fred and Myrtle Souls Butts. On Oct. 14, 1939 she was married to Kenneth Shaw in Blodgett Mills. She was employed at the Cassavant and Dryden Schools as a Cook. Leila was a member of the McLean Community Church for over 60 years and served as a Sunday School teacher and Sunday School Superintendent as well as being a member and treasurer of the Women’s Fellowship. Additionally she was a charter member of the Mclean Firemen’s Auxiliary and a member of the McLean Book Club. She enjoyed traveling, bicycling, gardening and nurturing her family. Leila was a wonderful and devoted wife, mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her husband of 70 years, Kenneth, at home, her grandchildren, Shellie Ann (Scot) Cron and Jason (Jennifer) Shaw; two great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Mikayla Cron; nieces and nephews; in-laws, Jerald (Ada)Shaw, Vivian Wagner. She was predeceased by her sons, Kenneth and Douglas Shaw; her sister, Lila Riley and several brothers and sisters-in-law.

Funeral services will be at 11 AM Friday, March 12, 2010 at the McLean Community Church with Rev. Leslie A. Smith officiating. Burial, delayed, will be in McLean Rural Cemetery, McLean. Friends are invited to call from 5 to 7 PM Thursday at the Perkins Funeral Home, 55 West Main St., Dryden.
