Laura A. Poirier Leete Barnes,
age 86, of 6 Palmer Dr., Dryden, NY
passed away Tuesday, February 17, 2009 at the Cortland Regional Medical
Center, Cortland, NY.
Born February 2, 1923, she was one of ten children born to Paul and
Charlotte Roussie Poirier of Gaspe`, Quebec, Canada. She was a meat cutter
for Paladine's Midstate Market in North Syracuse for many years.
Mrs. Barnes is survived by her husband, Earl Barnes of Dryden, NY; her only
son, Gordon S. (Betty) Leete of Harford, NY; grandson, Gordon S. Leete, Jr.
of Williamstown, MA; granddaughters, Theresa (Dean) Wolf of Groton, NY and
Natalie (Floyd) Parker of Marathon, NY; eight great grandchildren, Gordon
James Leete, Mackenzie Brown, Paige Parker, Leslie Wolf, Justin Wolf,
Crystal Wolf, David Wolf and Samantha Wolf; and four great great
grandchildren; sisters, Rita Chiasson, Emily O'Laughlin and Lacticia Poirier
all of Tupper Lake, NY; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was
predeceased by her first husband, Charles Leete; brothers and sisters,
Bertha LaJoye, Clorice Tetreault, Leona Thipodeau, Soloman, Edmond and Emile
Poirier.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Friday, February 20, 2009 at the
Perkins Funeral Home, 55 W. Main St., Dryden, NY with Jehovah's Witness
Minister, Walter A. Alexander, officiating. Burial will take place at
Harford Mills Cemetery, Harford Mills, NY. There are no calling hours. In
lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's
Witness, 220 S. Main St., Groton, NY 13073 or Dryden Fire Dept. Rescue
Squad, North St., Dryden, NY 13053.
