Kayla Marie (Bushnoe) Wood, 37 of Dryden, NY passed away July 3, 2026 in Dryden NY. She was born in Syracuse, NY on August 3, 1988 to Stephen M. and Kathleen A. Bushnoe (Medler).
In 2008, she graduated from Homer Central High School. Kayla earned her Medical Assistant (MA) through BOCES (Board of Cooperative Educational Services) in Cortland, NY. A couple of the companies she worked for included; Dr Medi Medical Office and Little York Plantation in Little York, NY. She also enjoyed working at the Elizabeth Brewster House in Homer, NY. Kayla’s current place of employment was at Cornell in Ithaca, NY at the time of her death.
Kayla attended the Preble Baptist church as a child and then later attended the Dryden Baptist Church.
Kayla is survived by her husband, Andrew Wood, (separated at the time of her death), of Cortland, NY., daughters; Tressa, and Samara, her parents Stephen and Kathleen of Augusta, GA, her brother, Donald (Tianna) Umstead of Evans, GA, and her sisters; Kelsey (Chadwick) Grubb of Centralia, MO, Bethany of Augusta. GA., and Brianna (Childen) Noel of Lebanon, PA. She also has several nieces and nephews, and many cousins.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Richard and Barbara Hewitt (Jordan NY); and an uncle, Raymond Bushnoe, (Phoenix, NY), and an aunt Julie Wilson, (Belview, FL).
Kayla loved to garden, spend time with her children, her pets, her family, and loved to joke around, and have fun game nights with family and friends. She was loving, giving, and caring to all. Kayla will always be remembered for her bright warm smile, big heart, her humor, her love of the outdoors, and the many lives she touched.
A celebration of Kayla’s life will be held July 16, 2026 from 1:00 – 4:00pm at Dwyer Park (Little York Park), 6799 Little York Lake Rd. Preble NY, 13141.
