Kathleen A. McCaffrey

Beloved wife, mother, nana and gamgam Kathleen Alana McCaffrey, passed away unexpectedly

on January 31, 2025 at Upstate Hospital, from a hemorrhagic stroke. She was born on May 4,

1946 to Francis Smith and Theresa Steal Smith Carroll. She had 6 siblings. She got married

January 4th 1975 to Allen McCaffrey. Kathy is survived by her 5 children Francis Ronald

Bindhammer, Ronald Bindhammer, James Christopher Bindhammer (Tracy Bindhammer),

Laurie-Ann Margaret McCaffrey (Peter Cowart) and Margaret Mariam Kathleen McCaffrey.

Kathy was a long time resident of Groton, NY. She was an active member of the Groton

Assembly of God. She taught the sunshine class for many years, as well worked in the kitchen

serving the church and those in need. She loved the Lord Jesus and shared him with so many

people. She showed Jesus’s love, mercy and grace to everyone she met. If someone was in

need, whether it be shelter, food, or clothing she was always there to help. She shared the

message of Jesus with all of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Kathy had 15

grandchildren. Amanda Bindhamer, AJ Bindhamer, Casandra Schoner, Cassidie Predmore,

Nicholas Crans, Lukas Cowart, Jon Cowart, Elijah Cowart, Donna Garrow, Nolan Bindhammer,

Jacob Bindhammer, JR Bindhammer, Steven Bindhammer, Micheal Perry and Ivy Perry. Kathy

had 9 great grandchildren, Adrianna Bindhammer, Jade Rohan, Wyatt Schreier, Kyden

Bindhammer, Violet Bindhammer, Everett James Cowart, Declyn, Bryson, and Soyer Predmore.

She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years of marriage, Allen McCaffrey, her sisters

Patrica Trivisani, Judy Carrol Diaz, her brothers George Smith, and Harry Carrol. Predeceased

by brother inlaws James Aten, Tom Trivisani, Ennis McCaffrey, Frank McCaffrey, Edward

McCaffrey, and Robert McCaffrey. She was predeceased by her nephews Thomas Aten, David

Drome and nieces Nancy Aten and Patricia Hoetger. She is survived by her sisters Mary Aten

of Susex, NJ and Sandra Dome Bath, PA. Kathy had many nieces, nephews and great nieces

and nephews. Nieces and Nephews Josephine Aten(NJ), Mary Goodrich (NJ), Carol Search

(NJ), Georg Smith JR(NY), Francis Smith (NJ), Melissa Smith (NJ), Danny Smith (NJ), Robert

Dome (PA), Thersa Carroll (NJ), and Kim Mathews (NJ).

Please come and celebrate our beloved mothers life with us. We are encouraging people to

share a story or a memory of her.

Graveside services will be May 3, 2025 at 10:00 A.M. at Saint Anthony’s Catholic

Cemetery Clark St. Groton, NY. A celebration of life will follow at Groton Assembly of God

Church, 701 S. Main St, Groton NY 13073. Where a fellowship meal will follow the service.
