Joseph Claude Weaver

April 20, 1942 — May 8, 2018

Joseph Claude Weaver, 76, of Ithaca NY, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, May 8, 2018. He was born on April 20, 1942 in Savannah NY, the youngest son of the late Donald John Weaver and Nellie Maroney Weaver. He graduated from Leavenworth High School in Wolcott NY in 1960. He received an Associate Degree from Monroe Community College. He was employed as a Research Assistant in the Geology department at the University of Rochester and subsequently at Cornell University. He enjoyed more than a decade of retirement after Cornell.
Joe is survived by two brothers, Donald (Angie) Weaver Jr. (Jack) and Richard (Abigail) Weaver and a sister, Virginia Weaver (John Cook), five nieces and nephews, eight great-nieces and nephews, and many wonderful friends including Sandra Wright and Herman Deese, the most amazing neighbor anyone could have. Joe enjoyed watching trains and planes and spending time with friends, family, and his beloved yellow cat. He was a good friend to many, providing care during illnesses and support when needed.
Visiting hours will be held at Norton Funeral Home, 13081 West Church Street, Savannah, New York on Friday May 11, 2018 from 5 to 7 pm and at Perkins Funeral Home, 55 West Main Street, Dryden, New York on Saturday May 12, 2018 from 10 am to 12 noon. In lieu of flowers, please keep Joe in your thoughts and prayers.
