JOHN G. YUNKER,
age 81, of Lindsay Lane, Ithaca, NY passed away Saturday, Feb. 13, 2010 at home after a brief illness. John was born June 20, 1928 in Washington, DC. He attended George Junior Republic in Freeville and after graduation was a devoted employee there for many years. John later worked at the Sears store in Ithaca, and has been a well-loved driver for Foodnet for the past 8 years.
Survivors include his long time companion, Carolyn Benkelmann of Ithaca, his son, David (Elisa) Yunker of Petaluma, CA and his daughter, Susan (David) Meyer of Apex, NC; grandchildren, Bonnie and Sara Meyer. Also surviving are Carolyn’s family members, Laura (Michael) Babcock, Ashley (Aaron) Deitrich and Joshua Babcock.
Memorial services will be held at 10 AM Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010 at the Perkins Funeral Home, 55 West Main St., Dryden, NY with Rev. Alan Kinney officiating. Friends are invited to stay after the service to visit with John’s family. Memorials, in lieu of flowers, are directed to the SPCA of Tompkins County.
