Jeff was born April 14, 1955 to William (Bill) and Mildred Kirby. He grew up in Ithaca, NY as the youngest of the four Kirby children, Edward (Martha), Marilyn (Jack Allen) and James (Cordelia). He received his Bachelor’s degree in 1977 in Civil Engineering from Cornell University. He married his soulmate Lorreen (Reenie) Oltz that summer and continued at Cornell until he completed his Master’s degree in structural engineering a year later. Together they moved to NJ to start his professional career as well as his family. Jeff and Reenie had two children, Andrea (Bob Hagberg) and Adam (Thyda Son), and eventually two granddaughters, Jessica Bittmann (Hagberg) and Natalie Kirby. Jeff retired in 2021 from Tectonic Engineering after over 30 years with them. He did enjoy his job as Chief Structural Engineer, while there a few of his coworkers became true friends. Jeff was a very private man who enjoyed the small details in life, such as taking a walk to the mailbox with his granddaughter in the California sunshine, or a good glass of wine with dinner on occasion. He loved his family fiercely, his wife and children were his whole world. He will be eternally remembered and forever cherished.
