Jean A. Wacht

Jean A. Wacht, age 75 of Harford Mills, NY passed away unexpectedly in the Guthrie Cortland Emergency Room on Monday, July 14, 2025.

Born August 24, 1949 in Hutchinson, Kansas she is the daughter of the late Everett and Goldie Berends and wife of the late Rudolf Wacht who died in 2009. Jean was a projectionist for many area theatres in the Cortland and Ithaca area prior to her retirement.

Jean is survived by her children, David (Caren) Wacht, Gerry (Shawna Sickmon) Wacht, Steven Wacht, Catherine (Roberto) Lamas and Matt (Mary) Marks; grandchildren, Khristopher, Aden, Corenna, Payton, Landon, Bryon, Marissa, Bradley, Kaylee (deceased), Rudy, Kyra, Zach, Alex, Stacy, Seth, Matthew Jr., Raymee, and Calden; brothers, Les Berends and Tom Berends, sister, Pat Mema Tharp, many nieces and nephews. In addition, she was predeceased by her sister, Cat and brother, Wayne.

There will be a Celebration of Jean’s life held at Myers Park in Lansing later this summer and will be announced. Perkins Funeral Home is assisting the family.
