Janet M. McArthur

Janet M. McArthur, 86 of Cortland, NY passed away Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at Crown Park Nursing Center in Cortland, NY.

Born January 24, 1939, in Chenango, NY she was the daughter of the late Harold P. and Edith E. Angell Williams and wife of the late L. John McArthur who died November 22, 2017. Janet graduated from Truxton High School in 1956 and was a Certified Nurse Assistant. She had worked at every nursing home in Cortland County and Hospice prior to retirement at age 62. She was an Autism Advocate and was very active in the Special Needs Community. She was also a 65-year member of the Order of Eastern Star. Janet was a Girl Scout leader and involved with Cub Scouts.

Janet is survived by her six children, Teresa McFarling and family, Leon Phelps Jr. and family, Timothy Phelps and family, Kim Parker and family, Mark Phelps Sr. and family and James McArthur: a brother, Neil Williams and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. In addition, she was predeceased by brothers, DeWayn Williams and Robert Williams and her sister, Joyce Rowe.

The Family will receive friends on Saturday, November 22, from 11 am to noon at Perkins Funeral Home, 55 W. Main St., Dryden, NY with a funeral service to follow at noon. Burial will be in Willow Glen Cemetery, Dryden.
