Jane E. Day

Jane E. Day passed away suddenly and quietly on October 17, 2024 at the age of 96. Jane was born March 28, 1928 in Truxton, NY, daughter of T. Arlie Smith and Harriet Turner Smith.

Jane grew up on Truxton and Moravia area farms with her sisters Marjorie (Aldrich), Ruth (Krull) and brothers Clifford and William.

She attended business school in Cortland where she also worked for the Wickwire family.

Jane married Howard T. Day, May 29, 1948, residing in the Dryden area until her passing.

After lovingly caring for scores of local children while raising her own, she worked as a secretary at Cornell Cooperative Extension, retiring after 10 years.

Jane is survived by her brother William, her 3 daughters Barbara, Sandra, Sherry and son Wayne, 9 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her loving husband Howard, November 23, 2020.

Jane's loving, caring, generous demeanor, her feistiness and great sense of humor will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.
