HUGH ALEXANDER DRYDEN, age 81, of 2167 Holler Road, Cortland, NY (Town of Virgil) died January 1, 2008 after a lengthy illness. Hugh was born December 28, 1926 in St Ann’s, Trinidad a son of the late Herbert and Mary Chunes Dryden. He was a resident of the Bronx and Middletown, NY for many years and was married to Regina Mullins Dryden who passed away in 1983 . Later he was introduced to the former Wilma Smith Kaminski of Virgil. They were married and resided on McLean Road until moving to a new home on Holler Road in 2007. Hugh was a retired electrician from the New York City Transit Authority. He loved music, gardening, growing flowers and was a talented repairman.

Survivors include his wife, Wilma Smith Kaminski Dryden of Virgil; his children, Dawn Bair and Teresa Dryden of Wurtsboro, NY, Kathleen Dryden and Michael Dryden of Emerson, NJ, Patricia Coon of Washingtonville, NY, Bruce Dryden of Godeffroy, NY, Barbara Hollister of Lutz, FL, Jeanne Dryden of Dryden, NY and Janet Bacon of Colorado; step-children, John Kaminski of Virgil, Lynn McHerron of Ithaca, Ralph Kaminski of Toano, VA, Carl Kaminski of Virgil and Jane Stevens of Tully; twenty-one grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 9:30 AM, Friday, January 4, 2008 in the Virgil United Methodist Church. Burial will be Friday at 2 PM in St. Joseph Cemetery, Middletown, NY. Friends are invited to call Thursday from 7 to 9 PM at the Perkins Funeral Home, 55 West Main St., Dryden. Those wishing to remember Hugh are asked to consider a memorial to: Virgil U.M.
