Helen Winifred Vorhis

Helen W. Vorhis, 76, of Ithaca, NY died Saturday, July 5, 2025 at Cayuga Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Ithaca, NY

Helen was a lifelong resident of Brooktondale, NY. She would often be seen walking to the post office or to the local store. Helen attended the old Brooktondale two room school house as a young girl and often attended the old Brooktondale school house reunions. She graduated from DeWitt Middle School and then Ithaca High School in 1967 and attended TC3.

She was the daughter of the late Frank and Virginia Vorhis of Brooktondale, N.Y. and sister to her late brothers, Robert (Judy) Dean of Ithaca, NY and Cameron (Kathy) Vorhis of Brooktondale, NY. Survivors include brothers, Douglas (JoAnne) Vorhis of Brooktondale, NY, Gregg (Mary Alice) Vorhis of Horseheads, NY, and sisters, Carol (David) Vorhis of Interlaken, NY and Sheila (Greg) Robideau of Ithaca, NY Helen loved being Aunt Helen to all her many nieces and nephews. She was always welcoming and loved to see them. Family meant so much to her. She loved Friskie her faithful cat.

Helen’s family would like to thank the Hospice staff and the staff at Cayuga Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their love and kindness they showed to Helen, especially in her last days. You all showed the meaning of caregiving to a higher level. God bless you all.

Graveside Services will be held at Brookton Cemetery at 10:30 am Thursday, July 17th with a gathering to follow at the Old Brooktondale Fire Hall in Brooktondale, NY (next to the Community Center)
