It is with profound sadness and a deep sense of gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Harold F. Griffin Jr., who departed this world peacefully on February 24, 2026, at Wilson Hospital. Harold was surrounded by his loving family, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, dedication, and love. Born on September 25, 1952, in the charming town of Ilion, New York, Harold was a beacon of light to everyone who knew him.

Harold was the cherished son of the late Harold Griffin Sr. and Lillian Truman. Alongside his beloved parents, Harold is now reunited with his dear wife, Joyce, whom he adored until her passing on the same date sixteen years prior, on February 24, 2010. His siblings—Carol, Dale, and Patrick—and his brother-in-law, Gary Alexander, also predeceased him, each holding a special place in his heart.

Harold's life was a testament to love, strength, and resilience. A dedicated and loving family man, he leaves behind a grateful family who will forever cherish his memory: his siblings Ann Armstrong, Jerry (Colleen) Griffin, Alan (Karen) Griffin, and Debra Alexander; and Jeff (Jessica) DeLia his devoted granddaughter Shawna (Jeff) Fairweather; his caring daughter-in-law Darlene Couch;, who felt more like family than friends.

Harold was a proud graduate of Mohawk High School, class of 1970. His work ethic was unparalleled, beginning his career at the Owego St IGA as a teen and later dedicating many years to Cortland Memorial Hospital until his well-deserved retirement. His colleagues remember him as a dependable and compassionate individual who brought warmth and humor to the workplace.

In his later years, Harold found joy and purpose in serving his community by transporting local Amish families to stores and events. It was more than just a service; it was a labor of love, allowing him to connect deeply with the community he held dear. His generosity and willingness to help others were hallmarks of his character, making him a beloved figure in his neighborhood.

Harold was a man of quiet strength and gentle spirit, admired for his unwavering dedication to his family and community. His kindness left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him, and his absence will be deeply felt but fondly remembered.

In honoring Harold's wishes, a private ceremony will be held to celebrate his remarkable life. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the exceptional staff at Wilson ICU for their compassionate care and support during Harold's final days.

As we bid farewell to a remarkable soul, we remember Harold not for how he left us but for the love and light he brought into our lives. His legacy of kindness, service, and family devotion will continue to inspire all who knew him.

Rest in peace, dear Harold. You will be forever loved and missed.
