Harold A. Baylor, Jr.

Harold A. Baylor, Jr., 83, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 27, 2026, in Ithaca, New York, following a long illness. 

Born in Binghamton, New York, on October 6, 1942, Harold was a proud graduate of Binghamton Central High School, Class of 1960. He began his collegiate studies at Johns Hopkins University before completing his education in accounting and finance at Elmira College.

Harold dedicated his professional life to the banking industry. He began his career with Endicott Trust Company, a subsidiary of Irving Bank Corporation, where his talent and dedication led to opportunities with Irving Bank Corporation on Wall Street. He later relocated to New York's Capital District, where he continued his success in banking before returning to the Southern Tier to be closer to his family. He concluded his career with Tompkins Workforce New York in Ithaca, where he remained until his retirement.

Although Harold enjoyed a successful career in banking, his greatest pride and joy was his family. He found immense happiness in watching his son and grandchildren grow, and he celebrated each of their accomplishments with unwavering love, encouragement, and quiet pride.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Anna Baylor. 

He is lovingly remembered by his brother, Frank Baylor of Binghamton; his son, Harold "Beau" A. Baylor III and his wife, Sonja, of Ithaca; his three cherished grandchildren, Noel Christopher of Boston, Ma, Dakota Baylor of Malden, Ma, and Devin Baylor and her husband, Mitch Denman, of Cortland, NY; and his nieces, Kimberly Baylor of New Orleans, La., and Dr. Lisa David (Baylor) of Lafayette, La.

Nothing brought Harold greater joy than spending time with his grandchildren. He took immense pride in supporting their academic and athletic pursuits, faithfully attending concerts, award ceremonies, dance competitions, football, hockey, and lacrosse games. His steadfast presence, quiet encouragement, unconditional love, and genuine pride in their accomplishments created memories his family will cherish forever.

Harold will be laid to rest alongside his family at Vestal Hills Memorial Park. A private graveside service will be held at a later date. 

Harold will be remembered for his integrity, quiet strength, unwavering devotion to his family, and the pride he took in watching future generations grow and succeed. His love, guidance, and enduring legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the dedicated staff of Longview Senior Living Community and Beechtree Center for Rehabilitation & Nursing for the exceptional love, compassion, and kindness they showed Harold throughout his care.

Donations will help continue the Association's mission of providing opportunities for girls to learn, grow, and thrive through the game of hockey, a cause that was especially meaningful to Harold and his family.
