Gladys Marie Stamp

GLADYS MARIE STAMP, age 87, formerly of Dryden and Newfield, NY passed away Thursday, Sept. 18, 2008 at Northwoods Care Center of Cortland. Mrs. Stamp was born Jan. 26, 1921 in Elmira a daughter of the late Chester and Mildred Roberts Updike. Her husband, Milton F. Stamp, died Jan. 15, 1982. Gladys was retired from Cornel University where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Fraternity and was the frat house cook there for 17 years.

Survivors include her children, Milton "Tom" (Patricia) Stamp of Freeville, Clifford "Fritz" (Dorcas) Stamp of Newfield, Lawrence (Claudia) Stamp of Owego and Gwendolyn (Patrick) Centro of Dryden; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Horseheads, NY. There are no calling hours. Friends who wish to remember Mrs. Stamp are asked to consider a memorial, in lieu of flowers, to Caring Community Hospice of Cortland, 11 Kennedy Parkway, Cortland, NY 13045.
