George E. Shaw,
age 72, of Canaan Rd., Brooktondale, NY passed away Wednesday, March 3, 2010. Born June 23, 1937 in Ithaca, NY, he was the son of the late Edward N. and Louise Bowlsby Shaw. He served in the US Navy from 1958 – 1962, while in Hawaii, he met and married Sa Malepe. They have been married 54 years this month. George was a painter by trade, working for the Painters Union Local 178, retiring in 1987. An avid hunter, fisherman and outdoorsman, he was one of the founding members of the Caroline Coon Club. His hobbies included knife making, golfing and NASCAR. He especially enjoyed cooking and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Sa Malepe Shaw at home; his children, George (Margie) Malepe, Sialele Malepe, Ramona (Dean) Teel, Frances (Jerry Cornell) Shaw, Linda (Greg) Nash, Mary (Alvah) Watson, Pat (David) Arsenault, Madoline “Pooh” (Chong You) Shaw, and Amber (Greg) Compton; son in law, Dean Prince; 20 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, sisters, Ellnora Coil Gray and Ruth Johnson and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Rosemary Prince in 2009.
Services will be held at 11 am, Friday, March 5, 2010 at Perkins Funeral Home, 55 W. Main St., Dryden, NY with Rev. Phil Jordan officiating. Friends may call from 10 to 11 am prior to the service.
