Gary William Lomber, of Dryden, New York, passed away on October 10, 2026, from
complications related to diabetes. He was born in Lowville, New York, on May 8, 1942, to Gerald
and Helen Lomber.
Gary is survived by his beloved wife and love of his life of 64 years, Nancy; his children, Jeff
(Nancy) Lomber, Bob (Pam) Lomber, Lynnette (Rob) Torgalski, and Dawn (Steve) Kucerak;
and his grandchildren: Alyssa (Michael) Bobos, Courtney (Jonathan) Pryzbyla, Terra (Logan)
Lynn, Rebecca Lomber, Kayla (Chris) Cummins, Emily Torgalski, Amanda (Joe) Suarez, Jeffrey
(Katie) Kucerak, Julia Torgalski, and Joey Torgalski. He also leaves behind four
great-grandchildren: John, Charlie, and Hudson Bobos, and Addison Lynn.
He is also survived by his sisters, Gayle Lee and Cheryl (Hank) Tarasek, and two special nieces,
Debbie (Rick) Jaworowicz and Jana (Gary) Chavoustie. He was predeceased by
his parents, Gerald and Helen, and his brother, Kenneth Lomber.
Gary built a long and respected career as a Plant Manager in the Information Packaging
Industry, with opportunities that led him and Nancy to relocate several times and even spend
time abroad in Ireland, where he helped launch a new facility. Upon retiring, they returned to
New York to be near family. His steady work ethic and commitment to doing things the right
way shaped the values he instilled in his children.
Family was at the heart of Gary’s life. He never missed an opportunity to attend his children’s
and grandchildren’s sporting events, teach them to drive, take them for ice cream, or simply go
for a ride. Though health challenges eventually kept him from bowling and golf, he enjoyed both
throughout his life. He also treasured a good meal out, tending to his flowers, and, as his illness
progressed, sitting on the porch and watching the birds and chipmunks in the beautifully
landscaped yard he and Nancy created.
Gary dearly loved his dogs—boxers were his breed—and treated them as the family they were.
He was a quiet, kind, patient, generous, and hardworking man who loved his family above all.
He was a loyal fan of the New York Yankees, Syracuse basketball, Notre Dame football, and the
New York Giants.
Calling hours will be held at Perkins Funeral Home in Dryden on Friday, October 16, from 10:00
a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by a Memorial Service at noon in the Funeral Home and a celebration of life at the Dryden VFW.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Dryden Ambulance. Their
assistance was deeply appreciated by Gary, and by his family.
