Esther (Kelley) Doubleday was born in Cuyler, NY on August 7, 1936 and graduated into the arms of Jesus, on Thursday, July 3rd. She died peacefully at home surrounded by her daughters. Esther was the daughter of Elwin and Alice Kelley of Carr Hill, Cortland, NY. She married Rodney “Larry” Doubleday on August 23, 1958. They resided in McLean, NY where Esther was one of McLean’s postal clerks for many years. She was also known as a skillful seamstress, industrious homemaker and active helper in the community life of her church.
Esther was preceded in death by her husband Larry and grandson Jonah. She is survived by four daughters, Laurie Doubleday-Johnson (Danny), Melody Doubleday, Dawn Doubleday and Melissa Placides (Erik), and three grandchildren, Michaela, Rachellynn and Isabella. A celebration of life will take place on Friday, July 25th at the Groton Assembly at 6:30pm.
