Elizabeth A. Piech

Elizabeth A. Piech, 88, of Lansing, New York, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2026, with the love of her family around her. She was born on October 29, 1937, in Lowville, New York.

Elizabeth was a graduate of Lowville High School and SUNY Morrisville, where she received her degree in Licensed Practical Nursing. She went on to serve others through her work at Wilson Hospital in Johnson City, New York, and Cortland Memorial Hospital in Cortland, New York. Her nursing career reflected a life centered on care, compassion, and steady devotion to those around her.

That spirit of care extended far beyond her profession. Elizabeth loved children and cared for them in her home for many years, sharing her warmth and kindness in a way that touched many lives. She also found joy in boating, shopping, and working on word search puzzles, the simple pleasures that brought happiness to her days and to those who shared them with her.

Above all, Elizabeth treasured her family. She is survived by her daughter, Tina Phelps and Tina’s husband, William; her grandsons, Tim Phelps and his wife, Jen, and Mike Phelps and his wife, Dru; her son, Mark Piech (decesased), and his wife, Phoebe; her granddaughter, Haley Piech; her great-grandchildren, Jonathan, Miley, and Levi, and Abigail, Lillian, and Eliza; her sister, Mary McMahon; and her brother-in-law, Tony Stoffel. She leaves them the lasting gift of her love, her example of caring for others, and the many memories they will hold close.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Marguerite Rauhe Feisthamel; her husband, Joseph Piech; her daughter, Mary Piech; her son, Mark Piech; her friend and companion, Howard Shippey; her sister, Carol Stoffel; her sister, Marie Grasse and Marie’s husband, Herb; and her brother, Harold Feisthamel and Harold’s wife, Margie.

Elizabeth will be remembered with love for her gentle heart, her dedication to family, and the kindness she shared so freely throughout her life. Her memory will remain a comfort to all who knew and loved her.
