ELEANOR L. WHITMORE, age 84, of Dryden, NY passed away Saturday, April 27, 2013 at University Hospital, Syracuse, NY. Mrs. Whitmore was born June 18, 1928 in Potsdam, NY and was a daughter of the late Fred and Leola Speer Loucks. After graduation from Canton High School she studied for one year at St. Lawrence University and on June 5, 1948 was married to Merrill Whitmore at Canton. Mr. and Mrs. Whitmore operated a dairy farm in Canton and later in Alexander, NY. In 1989 they moved to Dryden, NY. She was a member of the Dryden Baptist Church and was the bookkeeper for Whitmore Fence Company in Dryden until 2003.
She was much loved and will be missed by her husband of 64 years, Merrill at home, her children, Roger M. (Darlene) Whitmore of Alexander, Lee L. (Cindy) Whitmore of Argyle, NY, Fred J. (Siri) Whitmore of Dryden, Neil E. (Marla) Whitmore of Groton and Marilyn E. (Stryker) Ostafew of Albion, NY; siblings, Richard (Millie)Loucks of Webster, NY, Jeanette Ricalton of Canton and Maurice (Marilyn) Loucks of San Diego, CA; seventeen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; one great great-grandson; nieces, nephews and cousins. She was a loyal friend to neighbors, church family and exercise class partners.
Funeral service will be held at 11 AM, Wednesday, May 8th, 2013 at the Dryden Baptist Church with Pastor Ronald Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Cemetery, Dryden. Friends are invited to call from 9 to 11 AM, Wednesday prior to the funeral.
