FLORENCE STARR, age 86, formerly of Buffalo Road, Slaterville Springs, NY passed away Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2010 at University Hospital, Syracuse, NY. Mrs. Starr was born April 2, 1923 in Brooklyn, NY, a daughter of the late Thomas and Florence Tucker Armstrong. Her husband of 63 years, W. Harvey Starr, died April 9, 2005. Florence was a long time resident of the Slaterville Community and served as Town of Caroline Clerk for over 20 years. She also had been a Town Councilperson and a member of the Tompkins County Board of Representatives. Florence was a long time member of the Caroline Republican Committee, the Caroline Homemakers Club and was a library volunteer and a charter member of the Slaterville Vol. Fire Co. Auxiliary. Florence will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Survivors include her daughter, Florie (Neb) Hage of Homer, NY; her son William Harvey (Ginny)Starr of Slaterville Springs, NY; grandchildren, John (Juliana) Hage, Laurie (Tom Smith) Starr, Terri (Lowell) Neal, Jason (Jamie) Hage and Julee (Andrew) Dean; great-granddaughters, Kayla Neal, Lily Dean and Ella Hage; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Lillian Fulton.

Funeral services will be held at 1 PM, Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2010 at the Perkins Funeral Home with Rev. Phil Jordan officiating. Burial, delayed until spring, will be in Highland Cemetery, Richford, NY. Friends are invited to call from 5 to 7 PM, Monday at the funeral home, 55 West Main St., Dryden.
