Dorothy M. Poole passed away May 14, 2013 at the age of 84. Born in Dryden, NY, she was the daughter of the late Glenn E. and Hazel Nickerson Cotterill. She grew up in the Town of Dryden and was a 1946 graduate of Ithaca High School. In September 1946 she married Warren E. Poole and they moved to Etna in 1950. Dorothy started as a clerk in the Etna Post Office in 1959 and in 1969 became Postmaster, serving until her retirement in 1989..
Dorothy is survived by her loving family, daughter, Linda (David) Baylor of Etna, NY and son, David(Karen) Poole of Santa Clarita, CA; four grandchildren, Scott (Shauntay) Baylor of Groton, Shawn (Carrie) Baylor of Etna, Christopher Poole of CA and Sara (Jeremy) Shields of CA; eight great grandchildren, Shaelyn and Scottie Baylor of Groton, Brennan Baylor of Etna, Chelsea and Matthew Grant of Etna, Shane Gowan of Tioga Center, NY and Pressley and Graeson Shields of CA. She is also survived by her sister, Carolyn Zhe of CA and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband Warren; three brothers, Leslie, Arland and Alvin Cotterill and two sisters, Ruth Pearson and Mary Cotterill.
She was very active in Girl Scouts, The Etna Community Association and was a Sunday school teacher in the Etna Church.

Graveside services will be held at 3:00 pm June 7, 2013 at Willow Glen Cemetery, Dryden, NY with Rev. David Nicholls officiating.
