Donald W. Mayes Sr.

DONALD W. MAYES SR. passed away unexpectedly Friday January 30th 2009. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, a loving grandfather and dear, dear friend to many. Don was born in Oneonta, NY to Loretta and Wayland Sowles on August 17th 1944. He grew up in Unadilla, NY and married his high school sweetheart, the former Kathleen Pickering, in September 1966. Don was very proud to have served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He retired after many years of service to Xerox. Don was a talented photographer that had the gift of making people smile. In his retirement he enjoyed his photography business and loved to be on the golf course. Don was happiest when he was helping others and was very active in his community. He was a member of McLean Community Church where he served on several committees and was currently the Church Moderator.
