Betty Ann Enders

Betty Ann Enders, age 88, of Dryden, NY passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 26, 2026, with her daughter and son-in-law by her side at Cayuga Medical Center in Ithaca after a courageous battle with cancer.

Betty Ann was born on Mother’s Day, May 9, 1937, in Cortland, NY. She is the daughter of the late Harold Metzger Fitts and Thursa Ruth Van Arkel Smiley.

She graduated from Dryden High School in 1955 and began a 39-year career with Prudential Insurance Company retiring at age 57. Betty Ann was a lifelong Dryden area resident where she met the love of her life, Willard (Bill) Enders. They were married on November 21, 1958, in Sayre, PA and had celebrated 57 years of marriage before Bill’s passing in December of 2015. Bill and Betty Ann spent 12 years in the Florida sunshine during the winter months. Betty Ann was a true lover of all things Mickey Mouse. She was a proud member of the Dryden Senior Citizens and Dryden Divas group. Betty Ann enjoyed playing cards, bowling, and was an avid golfer. She was a sports enthusiast and cheered for the NY Yankees, NY Giants, Duke, and Syracuse Basketball. Most of all she cherished the time spent with family and friends. Betty Ann was a go getter willing to help her close friends and neighbors. Her smile and bubbly personality will be greatly missed by all.

Betty Ann is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Shelly and Clint Walker of Dryden, NY; her grandson, Tom Walker of Cortland, NY; her siblings, Sonja Howe of Mifflinville, PA, Sandra Wigglesworth of Citrus Springs, FL, Marjorie (Bill) Mau of Cortland, NY, Jim (Deb) Smiley, Sr., and Jean Smiley of Freeville, NY; sister in law, Rosemary Fitts of Forestport, NY as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, and husband, Betty Ann was predeceased by her brother, Gregory Fitts and brother-in-law Harvey Wigglesworth.

Services will be held Tuesday, March 3, 2026 with calling hours from 11 am until the service time of 1 pm. Pastor Nancy Didway will officiate. Burial will follow at Willow Glen Cemetery, Dryden.
