ARCH BURTON DARLING,
age 75, of Freeville, NY passed away Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at Wilson Hospital, Johnson City, NY after a short battle with cancer. Archie was born June 19, 1933 in Dryden a son of the late Charlie and Mabel VanDuser Darling. He was graduated from Moravia High School in 1951 and entered the US Army in 1952 serving until 1955. He held various jobs and occupations including being a mechanic at Whyte’s Service Station in Freeville and later as a Prudential Insurance Salesman. He also worked at the Bruce Clary Agency. Additionally he was a kitchen assistant at IC3 and was a driver for FoodNet. On Oct. 7, 1995 he was married to the love of his life the former Cheryl Ives. They enjoyed traveling and were able to take several cruises. This was the happiest time of his life until suddenly Cheryl passed away on March 16, 2007.
Survivors include his son, John (Karen) Darling of Interlaken, NY; step-daughters, Shannon (Bill) Merrill of Dryden and Heather (James) Rothwell of PA and seven grandchildren. He was predeceased by an infant sister.
Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Tuesday, August 5th, 2008 at the Perkins Funeral Home. Burial will be in Salisbury Center Cemetery.
